Following on from her success in Vauxhall Fashion Scout's 'Ones to Watch' category, Georgia Hardinge received the VFS 'Merit Award' for A/W2011. With this achievement under her belt, Georgia was given the opportunity to display her next collection at her first stand alone London Fashion Week show and her success was covered by Vogue.
“I am honoured to have been chosen to represent the Merit Award this season. Vauxhall Fashion Scout have been wonderful advocates of my brand since day one. I can’t tell you how encouraging it is to have the support of such a rare creative platform. Showing as part of ‘Ones To Watch’ last season was a fantastic experience and to be now given the opportunity to do my first stand-alone show during London Fashion Week is a privilege in itself. I’m very excited!” - Georgia Hardinge.
The Vauxhall Fashion Scout 'Merit Award' is presented to new designers in order to help launch their careers into the fashion industry. The winner is carefully selected by a panel of industry professionals from a variety of areas such as press, buying and marketing.
"We’ve been watching Georgia grow since Ones To Watch last season and we are very impressed to see what she has achieved since. We can see great potential in her” - Martyn Richards, Director, Vauxhall Fashion Scout.
Georgia's A/W11 'Spined' collection was a huge success. Inspired by death, destruction, mutation and disfiguration, the clothes displayed many methods of fabric manipulation on flattering silhouettes. The collection was later worn by celebrities such as Jessie J, Beyonce, Annabelle Wallis, Nicole Scherzinger and can be found in Nero's 'Infinity' music video.
