SS12 ‘CUBED’ COLLECTION
Georgia Hardinges’ SS12 ‘Cubed’ Collection inspired by the dark nature of cubo-futurism is largely influenced by the sculptural vision of Raymond Duchamp-Villon. Synonymous for her use of sculptural lines with a clean modern aesthetic, Hardinges’ latest spring summer collection incorporates her iconic designed prints with sleek separates, seamlessly fusing cutting edge with commercial appeal.
This season geometry influences the silhouette. Broken lines are reassembled in abstract form reflecting the pure fundamentals of the cubism movement.
Fabrics enhance and magnify the shape creating a continuity throughout, whilst cubes, pentagons and triangular shapes provide form and function to the collection.
Harding projects shape and geometric prints at unsystematic angles allowing for a sense of depth and ambiguity, a distinct characteristic of cubism. In-house designed and created, Hardinges’ acute sense of scale and colour incorporates the box shape throughout, adding a bold contemporary quality.
The predominant grey tonal palette is enlivened with flashes of burnt orange, putty and cobalt blue. Drawn from the cubist palette, these colours have been updated using sheer fabrics to give a new sense of depth and scale.
